As part of Phase 1 of the SDF Next Program, $120 million will be invested as part of seven major projects to provide a best-in-class facility.

Operations Command Center

This new space serves as the airport’s nerve center and communications hub, allowing staff to monitor and respond to any operational aspect at any time. Investment: $18.5 million combined with Badging Office
Badging Office

The Badging Office provides three workstations and a separate training room to accommodate all badged personnel at SDF. Investment: $18.5 million combined with Badging Office
Passenger Boarding Bridges

A total of 17 passenger board bridges will be replaced during this phase. Investment: $22.4 million
Security Upgrades

Installation of state-of-the-art camera and access control systems using the Genetec Inc. platform. Through these various at the SDF campus the number of cameras were doubled for improved monitoring, response and safety.
Elevators & Escalators Replacement

18 elevators, six escalators and two moving sidewalks will be replaced as part of these efforts aimed at improving the passenger experience. Investment: $10 million
New Rental Car Facility / Easily Accessible Garage

New Rental Car Facility is conveniently located on Level 1 of the parking garage, allowing the nine rental car companies at SDF to provide easily accessible covered parking with premium, grab-and-go services to their customers. Investment: $30 million combined with other enabling projects
Wayfinding Improvements

Assessment and replacement of in-terminal and exterior signage to better assist and direct passengers and airport visitors.

Phase 2 of the SDF Next Program focuses largely on the baggage claim level and mechanical systems upgrades with all projects totaling $90 million and defying expectations for travelers.

With $120 million investment planned, Phase 3 of the SDF Next Program will look to honor the community and prepare our facilities for the future with various exterior upgrades, facility consideration for international travel and an expanded security checkpoint.
